The Mission Electronics area exploits state-of-the-art infrared, millimeter-wave, and laser technologies to design and fabricate missile seekers, guided munitions, and target designators. The Infrared Imaging systems area produces uncooled IR sensors and related systems for defense, civil and commercial applications. The area has three primary segments: military ground imaging systems, surveillance sensors/systems, and commercial/industrial subsystems. The Sensor Integration area produces robust, highly integrated, mission-critical equipment for detection, situational awareness, and protection for U.S. and allied military forces and homeland security personnel. Key product areas include mine countermeasures, countermeasure dispensers, laser warning systems, and unattended ground sensors. The Flight systems business area provides military and commercial aircraft modification and upgrades, aircraft operations, flight test, and aerial subscale and full-scale targets. BAE Systems, Advanced Technologies, is looking for a Field Engineer to provide engineering technical and maintenance services to customers on a world-wide basis. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provides world-wide engineering technical services to customer personnel including installation, integration, operation, maintenance and modification of various equipment and systems. This may include the actual performance of maintenance actions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. 2. Provides on-the-job training and classroom instruction to customer personnel in the theory of operation and maintenance of various equipment and systems. 3. Provides engineering and technical services and assistance to company engineers or customer personnel in investigating failures and detecting technical deficiencies in the operation and maintenance of various equipment and systems. Investigates methods by which those failures and deficiencies can be eliminated, makes recommendations. 4. Maintains daily logs and records of installation, maintenance and training activities at assigned location. Submits general administrative and technical reports to department manager. 5. Recommends revisions or additions to technical publications pertaining to various equipment and systems. 6. May direct the activities of non-exempt technical support personnel. 7. Develops and maintains an effective customer working relationship. 8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required. Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience. This is an entry level position normally encompassing the first two (2) years of professional work. Ability to travel 100%. NOTE: Duties may require living and working in areas of reduced living standards, personal hardship, and political unrest. Shipboard and aircraft flight crew duty may be required.
