JOB DESCRIPTION: The Linux Architect will interface with the USPS Mid-Range customer through the HP PMO to ensure that the proposed solution is designed, deployed and implemented in way that best achieves the customer’s business and technical objectives. The architect will work with appropriate HP and Novell counterparts to ensure that solution evolves in accordance with HP’s vision of the Next Generation Data Center as it relates to the adaptive infrastructure key enablers; IT Systems and Services, Power and Cooling, Management, Security, Virtualization and Automation. The architect will under the guidance of the HP PMO develop customer presentations as well as solution and technology oriented whitepapers as required. This role will be an off-site role but it is expected that some travel to the USPS IT Data Centers in Eagan and San Mateo will be required. US Citizenship required THIS POSITION REQUIRES 30% TRAVEL Required knowledge and experience with the following: • Architecting HP server architectures for large scale environments • Novell SLES on HP ProLiant BL & DL platforms • Novell SLES factory image creation and maintenance experience • Novell SLES on-site system image server and patch deployment • Architecting Novell SLES maintenance of ISV product compliance • OEM experiences Oracle, VMWare, Websphere experience • Transition / Migration experience (RH to SuSE, Solaris to SUSE) © 2007 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
