Election Trainer

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk has immediate openings for temporary election trainers to train Pollworkers in Los Angeles County.  We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a background in conducting trainings or presentations. The positions are located at our headquarters in Norwalk.  After the completion of on the job training, trainers will travel with a team, on a daily basis, from our headquarters to various training locations in Los Angeles County each day delivering three or four classes of two hours in length.  For traveling to training locations, trainers will drive a County van.

 

Duties of a trainer include the following:

  Set up and conduct election-related trainings, requiring lifting items (up to 40 lbs.) and loading/unloading vehicles. Drive County van to and from training locations throughout the County. Set up and operate audio/visual equipment, such as laptop, projector and microphones. Teach California Election Laws and Procedures (training will be provided). Work schedule that greatly exceeds 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.  Typical training schedule lasts approximately four weeks with weekdays averaging 14 to 16 hours per day and weekends 10 to 12 hours per day.

 

Job Length:

  Trainers will begin approximately September 1, 2008 and may work through November 7.

 

Desirable Skills:

 

To be considered for this position, you must have six months of full or part time experience in one the following areas:

  Paid experience conducting classes, seminars or workshops;

 

OR

  Work experience in election (local, state, federal, etc.) related activities

 

OR

  Experience organizing, supervising or coordinating work activities of a group of 5-10 people

 

NOTE - To qualify for this position, you must possess a valid (cannot be suspended, restricted or revoked) California Class “C” driver’s license needed to carry out job-related essential functions. 

 

Salary:

 

The hourly salary for this position is $18.62 with overtime paid at time and a half.
