SAIC has a current opening for an intern/entry level Software Technician in our Layton, Utah office. This position requires basic computer knowledge and skill in at least one web development technology or programming language.   Please apply directly at: https://cp-its-rmprd.saic.com/MAIN/careerportal/Job_Profile.cfm?szOrderID=126941Salary range: $25,500-$41,500 annually, depending on experience.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Damage Evaluation Systems (DES) Software Technician should have a basic background of object-oriented programming and knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC).  Candidate will be assisting with the development and maintenance of a mature and proven suite of software products; to include assignments that are semi-routine in nature regarding design, implementation and testing; monitoring and reporting progress on software related activities; coordinating activities involved with the development, implementation, and validation.  Candidate may interact with end users to gather requirements, solve application problems, and communicate status of commitments. Candidate may be required to obtain a US Department of Defense Secret security clearance.   •  Assist with the configuration of software executables to environments (development, test, staging and production); debug, and refine the computer software to produce the required product•  Involved in the preparation of required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation•  Aid the enhancement of the software and development processes to reduce operating time or improve efficiency•  Provide advice as technical knowledge increases in areas of customer support, assistance and program direction to management and personnel•  Perform quarterly system updates on laptops, to include assigned hardware and software requirements•  Utilize MS Office Suite software to record and document data extraction. o  Specifically, Word. Access and Excel will be used as well as other digitization and software tools•  Must have sense of urgency and sufficient energy and enthusiasm to respond to significant challenges in a timely manner and be team-orientedOTHER DUTIES AND TASKS: · Prepares detailed reports of findings as well as recommendations to management or other functions outside of SAIC (as technical experience increases)· Jointly organize and conduct previously defined studies and program analyses· Document scanning, OCRing, cleaning bookmarking and linking · Maintain the organization of electronic files· Collaborate with government customers in order to gain knowledge and understanding of their expectations· Extract parts/components cost information from the FEDLOG, and other Database Systems EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Education: High School Diploma and currently enrolled in an accredited university with a major in Computer Science or related field. DESIRED SKILLS· A knowledge and understanding of one or more programming languages, including but not limited to Visual Basic, Java, C++, and .Net a bonus· Basic IT skills acquired in an information technology or computer science degree program· Some understanding of software development life cycle methodology.· Demonstrated ability to acquire technical skills· Computer literacy· Able to complete assignments on time and independently when necessary  Company: SAIC Location: Layton, UT 84041 Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: IT/Software Development Relevant Work Experience: 1+ to 2 Years Career Level: Entry Level Education Level: High School or equivalent Company: SAIC Reference Code: 126941
