AGFC Chief of Enforcement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in biology, zoology, business administration, wildlife management, criminology, or a related field plus five years' experience in law enforcement, with emphasis in natural resources management, or related field; including two years' experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements as deemed appropriate by the Director.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in Natural Resources Management; knowledge of game and fish regulations and laws governing game and fish enforcement activities; knowledge of law enforcement methods and techniques; and the ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
Responsible for managing the Enforcement Division. This position is responsible for the management of financial and other resources within the policies set by the organization and outside laws and regulations. Directs the development of new divisional procedures as determined necessary while insuring established procedures are adhered to by divisional personnel. Oversees required divisional personnel procedures as applicable to hiring, performance and discipline. Produces annual budget for the division and ensures equitable distribution. Reconciles expenditures with monthly fiscal reports.
Develops general strategic and tactical plans for divisional projects and programs to include dynamic management of fish and wildlife populations through implementation and enforcement of regulations. Prioritizes projects and corresponding manpower needs. Directs purchasing of new equipment insuring agency purchasing guidelines are being followed. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships among the different divisions in the agency. Coordinates internally with other divisions to meet immediate needs in various areas including staffing, equipment, joint projects, and regulations development and implementation. Provides direction on staff communications including e-mail and memos. Public relations functions may include representing the agency at various public functions and organizations. Coordinates agency activities with other state and federal agencies to eliminate or reduce adverse impact upon the wildlife and fisheries management. Promotes wildlife programs to the public and other agencies. Responsible for effective supervision of the division to ensure the mission of the agency is fulfilled.
Provides direct and indirect supervision to a staff ranging from 160 to 220 employees.
