Weekend Sanitation Workers

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

Assist the Regular Full-Time sanitation workers with maintaining the cleanliness of the Bakery production area.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

 

1. Collects the following chemicals and equipment:

A.  Detergents, general cleaners, chlorinated cleaners, and mild acids.

B. Sanitizer.

C. Drying towels.

D. Mop and bucket.

E.  Floor scrubber.

F.  Pressure washers.

G.  Squeegee.

2. Collects and assures that the following safety and sanitation personal equipment is used.

A.  Aprons.

B. Rubber gloves.

C. Rubber boots.

D. Hair net.

E. Face shield or safety goggles as required.

3. Assist full-time sanitation workers to clean bakery production equipment, such as conveyors, cooling tunnels and disassembly and re-assembly.

A.  Bags motors.

B. Scrapes off excess soils and discards into trash.

C. Washes with a soap and hot water solution, using a pressure washer, ensuring that all parts and surfaces are cleaned while taking proper precautions around sensitive electrical/electronic equipment.  Uses a strahman hose nozzle nozzle.

D. Wipes Machinery components down with a towel.

E. Sanitizes with sanitizer.

F. Removes bags.

4. Operates dish machine.

A.  Places pans, bowls, buckets and utensils in the racks.

B. Wheels rack into the dish machine.

C. Starts machine.

D. Wheels rack out of machine and lets pans air dry for a few minutes.

E. Stacks equipment on plastic skids or lined crates depending on the item.

F.  Empties dirty water then refills dish machine with clean water as required.

5.  Disassembles the following Bakery Operations machinery using basic hand tools and/or special equipment adhering to all Swiss Colony safety procedures.

A.  Comas depositor

B. Oka

C. Bagger

D.  Artofex mixer

E. Groen steam kettle

F. Hobart mixers

G. Water cutter

H.  Pic-n-places

6. Washes floors in Bakery production areas.

A.  Sweep and Scrape floors.

B. Sets up wet floor signs.

C. Wash floors with soap and hot water solution, utilizing the floor scrubber and/or a mop and bucket.

7. Cleans up water or production spills in the Bakery production area as required.

8. Cleans and stock hand wash sinks in production area.

9. Scrubs walls, ceilings and pipes as directed by the Sanitation Supervisor and or Sanitation Department Senior Supervisor.

10. Returns all tools and equipment to the proper areas.

11. Assists full-time sanitation workers with their duties as required.

12. Performs as a janitor as required.

13. Maintains good housekeeping of work area.

14. Performs any duties as assigned by the Sanitation Supervisory staff.

15. Performs all assigned tasks in a safe manner according to company and departmental policy.

16. Responsible for ensuring that food safety and food security are maintained in food facilities at all times, which includes reporting any suspicious activity and assisting if intentional or unintentional contamination is discovered.

17. Performs all designated job duties/tasks in other departments as assigned to ensure operating efficiency of the company and maximum utilization of company personnel.  These assignments may be part of a formalized cross-training program or on an as needed, temporary basis.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

 

1. Possesses a high school education or equivalent.

2. Possesses one year or less of experience that leads to a familiarity with routines and procedures customary to the job.

3. Able to read, write and speak English.

4. Able to work independently with little or no supervision.

5. Able to work effectively with others and function as a team member.

6. Able to work scheduled and/or unscheduled overtime on short notice.
