Director - Quality Assurance/Sanitation
Direct and lead the Quality Assurance and Sanitation functions through continuous improvement in quality and food safety principles, practices and measures and priorities. Evaluate and update SOPs and align manufacturing functions to meet regulatory standards and company objectives related to food safety and quality. Work with management and employees to assure understanding and adherence to all regulatory standards and standard operating procedures. Consult with epidemiologist and FDA attorney as needed. Respond to customer inquiries.• Work with management, customers, research and R&D to deliver high quality products. • Identify, review and recommend capital projects related to food safety, quality and new line designs. • Manage department budgets.• Assure the approval, auditing and review of all new suppliers and co-packers as required.• Oversee product certifications, nutrition labeling, specification development and shelf-life and sensory testing and food safety regulations for the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Requirements:• 5+ years Quality/Food Safety related experience with 3+ years at manager or director level.• B.S. or M.S.in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology or related field. Knowledge of novel pathogen control mitigation technologies. • Work experience in sanitation and other food prerequisite programs, Quality Systems, GMP, HACCP, SPC and statistical techniques• Must be skilled in root cause analysis as a means to improve quality. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Prior experience mentoring and coaching employees and peers; communicating with and resolving FDA and USDA issues; appropriately handling consumer and media inquires.
