Music Business Analyst

Position Description:

Rhapsody – a joint venture between RealNetworks and MTV Networks - is looking for a detail-oriented business analyst who can provide critical data analysis and reporting support for the Rhapsody marketing and business strategy team.GENERAL SUMMARY/PURPOSE Business AnalystThis position has two main areas of responsibility – Data Analysis & Forecast, and Day-to-day reporting support of business owners.Data Analysis & Forecast - The ability to identify issues and trends, to research data variance to ensure accurate and timely reporting, and to provide forecasting of complex business agreements. This requires deep troubleshooting into raw and summary logs. As a result, we require a person with a strong analytical mind, superior problem solving skills, database proficiency, and the ability to write simple ad hoc UNIX scripts.Reporting Support – This role is the primary connection between business owners and the reporting team. He or she will need to understand the needs and effectively communicate requirements between groups. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Functions:% of Time1. Build financial models to forecast revenue and DCM for new partnerships and changes in business strategy. 30%2. Setting up new automated reports or modifying existing reports based on business owner needs 20%3. Regular interaction with the Corporate Finance team for quarterly and annual financial reports 20%4. Assist with developing business requirements for reporting team to implement new a new reporting system in the data warehouse. 10%5. Providing basic training to users so they know how to use the reports and self-service reporting tools 10%6. Escalating new report requests / bug fix requests to the reporting team so that they can be tracked, evaluated, and resolved. 10%7. Product and marketing recommendations to the executive and development teams based on business results8. Detailed ROI analysis against marketing campaigns 9. Evaluating new product/partner launch initiatives and measuring against competitor offerings10. Qualifications:
