VP, Retail Marketing
Position Description:
Reporting to the SVP,U.S. Licensing, the Vice President of Retail Business Development will be responsible for aggressively leading and expanding the divisions footprint across multiple distribution channels and platforms including but not limited to: Major mass players Wal-Mart, Target, Toy’s R’ us and K-Mart/Sears ; Mid-tier channels Kohl’s, J.C. Penney, and Mervyn’s; Department stores from Macy’s to Bloomingdales; Specialty retailers including Hot Topic, Spencer’s, FYE and electronic retailers among others. The selected candidate will have a ‘retail rolodex’ of key buyers and merchandise managers with a proven pedigree and experience in leveraging direct-to-retail, sourcing, and private label programs with quantifiable revenue results. The V.P of Retail Business Development will be responsible for evaluating Fox’s myriad intellectual properties and determining/recommending best retail ‘course of action’ i.e. strategic account selection, exclusives vs. broad-based initiatives’, and integration of other Fox divisions including Fox Home Entertainment, Theatrical promotions, News Corp America, Fox Broadcasting and 20th television. In addition to a comprehensive retail-centric background candidate will have a solid understanding of the licensing industry, consumer products, entertainment marketing and 3rd party promotions.Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Under direction of Senior Vice President, U.S. Licensing, candidate will drive revenue opportunities by creation and execution of successful and profitable retail marketing programs across multiple channels.• Recommend and execute revenue driving direct-to-retail programs on a consistent basis.• Responsible for day-to-day management of the retail marketing team and providing clear and effective direction to current Director of retail.• Write, refresh, and implement retail strategy programs by property and key account and recommend/present to Senior Management on regular basis.• Develop innovative and /or custom product strategies with category managers/licensed partners to maximize opportunities for successful sell in and sell through to diverse account base.• Prepare annual retail budgets, quarterly forecasting, and consistently track product performance by continuous dialogue with both retailers and licensed partners.• Works closely with the sales, creative, and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches and property success.• Update Senior management on weekly basis pertaining to strategic plans, programs, and status of all initiatives. • Extensive travel to major accounts on regular basis by candidate or current Director as directed or needed.• Consistent, daily/weekly communication with retail accounts via phone or email when not traveling to fortify Fox in the marketplace.Qualifications and Skills:• Minimum 8-10 years experience in senior level positions with proven advancement in career path.• Bachelors degree in business, economics, or related area of study• MBA preferred• Seasoned manager and effective leader who is a self-starter, highly motivated, and possesses excellent presentation skills.• Flexible, collaborative, analytical, and strategic with solid interpersonal skills.• Possess initiative and resourcefulness while requiring minimum supervision• Team player with dedicated work ethic• Constructive communication style and passion for excellence.
