We are currently searching for a Sr. Windows Systems Administrator to join our team in San Diego, CA.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the deployment and maintenance of Windows systems and application software in multiple clusters worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Windows and related technologies, and will be capable of working in a multiple-distribution environment. In general, responsibilities will include any requirements regarding the environment, from day to day system administration to planning and management as well as design and deployment of new systems.

 

Additionally, this person must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment where projects may take as little as a few days from conception to deployment.

 

Requirements:A four year Technical/Bachelors degree in Computer Science or the equivalent work experience.Minimum of 7 years experience with Windows Server installations, configuration management and patch administration in an Internet services environment.Expert level experience with the planning & design, production-level deployment, configuration management and day-to-day operations of large-scale Active Directory in a multi-site environment.At least 6 years previous experience in support of Windows servers in production operations.Hands-on experience with configuration and maintenance of common web based applications such as Apache (1.x/2.x), Java based application Server architectures such as Tomcat,  MySQL, NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, and SNMP.Solid experience with Windows remote administration and troubleshooting in a production environment, including the implementation of operational procedures and tools for monitoring and escalation procedures.Proven ability to automate common administration tasks on multiple operating systems, including Windows.Experience working with load balancing technologies and large-scale web server farms.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills and be self directed.Advanced problem solving skills – to include real-time operating system as well as networking troubleshooting.Proven ability to quickly learn and implement unfamiliar technologies.Be part of an on-call rotation schedule. Must possess a strong ability to document standards, methods and produce drawings of environments.  Must be willing to travel to domestic and international datacenter locations.

 

Desired skills and knowledge:Prior hands on experience with Dell Poweredge and IBM x-series hardware.Prior experience in benchmarking new technologies, technology surveys and providing concise feedback to management.Hands-on programming experience in any of Perl, PHP, Python, Java.Experience with large-scale (multiple-TB) NAS/SAN environments (EMC, Network Appliance, and Brocade experience preferred).Experience with imaging solutions such as Altiris, Ghost, etc.Experience with Virtualization technologies such as VMWareMSCE certificationsExperience with Linux Systems administration a plus.
