Assistant Manager, Planned Giving
Boston Symphony Orchestra
Document, process, track and administer all planned gifts that benefit the Boston Symphony Orchestra including gift annuities, pooled income fund, charitable remainder trusts, life insurance, charitable lead trusts, bequests and other estate gifts, and other deferred giving arrangements. S/he will interact with BSO staff members as well as donors, family members, attorneys, advisors, representatives of financial institutions and others. With Director and Planned Giving Officer, manage the BSO’s Planned Giving recognition group, the Walter Piston Society, including stewardship of donors, developing individual and group recognition opportunities and managing and tracking Society membership. Prepare planned giving calculations and proposals for Major Gift Officers, other staff members and volunteers using PG Calc software. Assist Director with the management of the Planned Giving Committee. Assist Director and Planned Giving Officer with implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan for deferred giving. Prepare reports, update records and extract information from Tessitura (the BSO database of record). Manage Planned Giving budget/expense reporting for planned giving team. Provide limited administrative support to the Director and Planned Giving Officer. Also, other projects/responsibilities as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Interest and/or background in the arts. Ability to prioritize work, organizational skills, attention to detail, strong donor service orientation, and capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines. Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills. Knowledge of prospect management systems or proven ability to work within electronic environment and learn new database systems and software. Some knowledge of planned giving concepts and/or development experience desirable.
