Assistant Director - Music and Entertainment
City of Hope’s Development & External Affairs is responsible for communicating with individuals, corporations, foundations and charitable groups with the goal of securing financial support for our organization’s groundbreaking research and world-class patient care. With offices in major cities nationwide, Development & External Affairs works to sponsor events and reach out to donors who are interested in furthering the cause of cancer research and treatment. Duties and Responsibilities:
Ideal candidate will assist in developing, planning and implementing new and existing events and programs, independently or as part of a particular campaign. Responsible for planning, management and coordination of designated programs or events. Assist in cultivating individuals and companies for the direct purpose of soliciting funds through established or newly created contribution programs. Plan, manage and coordinate designated campaign events and programs or designated segments of national campaign events. Plan, schedule and coordinate event committee and/or subcommittee meetings. Assist Director in the organization and development of new chapters and/or fundraising campaigns. Assist in the research, identification and solicitation of potential committee/chapter members. Compose solicitation letters and place follow up calls. Provide education and training for new committee/chapter members on COH fundraising policies, procedures and goals. Attend committee meetings and actively participate in the event planning process. Coordinate Event Related Public Relations and Advertising Efforts. Write copy for press releases and radio spots and interface with Marketing Department. Write chapter newsletter articles. Create marketing materials. May layout and design on own or interface with Marketing Department. and outside vendors to coordinate design. Prepare monthly activity reports and special campaign related progress reports.
Minimum Experience:
B.A. in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing or related field. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
