Test Technician
Job Description:• Performs troubleshooting and diagnosis of problems arising in operation or setup of tests.• Performs necessary repairs to equipment, instruments, fixtures and test specimens. • Prepares instrument calibration, test setup and data sheet documents.• Recommend and devise new or different test procedures and equipment applications to satisfy test objectives. • Perform simple design work to produce working sketches or simple drawings of new or existing test setups and fixtures.• Sets mechanical, structural, vibration, thermo-environmental tests and other specialized equipment. This includes calibration and data acquisition systems.• Records test data and keeps a running account of tests by recording all events.• Assists engineers in road and field tests for the purpose of acquiring data.• Also performs duties including but not limited to reading technical blueprints and drawings, laying out, fabricating, welding, machining and assembling test fixtures and test specimens.Job Requirements:Mechanical aptitude including skills in assembly, machining, fabrication, some welding. Knowledge of servo-hydraulics and/ or electronics a plus. A 2-year degree is preferred but not mandatory.
