Sr. Product Designer I

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Utilize technical design skills, engine knowledge, Pro/E experience, and Waukesha's Quality System procedures to create new product designs, product assemblies, and solve design-related problems.

2. Work with various types of engineers, designers, operations, global sourcing, application engineering, marketing, service, and others areas of expertise as required to procure prototype hardware for design verification, product release, and trouble-shooting production and field service type problems.

3. Provide technical support to other functional areas, as required.

4. Perform required Business System transactions associated with EN releases.

5. Assist on special projects as assigned by supervisor.

6. Design parts, assemblies, and systems for internal combustion engines.

7. Work with design engineers and be of assistance by contributing ideas and converting sketches into complete, workable systems.

8. Analyze requirements of the assignments to accomplish stated objectives and plan design layouts and detail drawings with efficient use of time.

9. Participate in project technical design reviews.

10. Perform all required Business System transactions associated with EN releases as required.

11. Participate in the creation of Dresser Waukesha Quality documents.

 

Educational Background Required:

-Associate degree in Mechanical Design Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited Technical College or University.

 

Work Experience Required:

-Minimum of ten years mechanical design experience.

-Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing, quality and assembly processes.

-Three years minimum experience with Pro-E solid-modeling CAD software.

-Demonstrated proficiency in technical and organizational assignments.

-Working knowledge of design graphics.

-Ability to perform complex design calculations, and GD&T per ASME Y-14-5M.

-Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills.

-Demonstrated problem solving skills.

-Will require some domestic and international travel.

 

Work Experience Desired:

-Industrial engine design background with experience designing large castings, forgings, and weldments.

-Demonstrated conceptual skills to design engine components, systems, and assemblies in Pro/Engineer

-Knowledge and experience in the use of rapid prototyping techniques.

-Experience interfacing with manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, and customers.

-Experience working in project teams.

-Leadership experience.
