Senior Analytical Engineer I

Duties and Responsibilities:


1. Utilize engineering design and torsional vibration analysis skills, along with knowledge of engines, reciprocating compressors, and related hardware, to assess durability of large land-based drive trains for torsional vibration using state of the art Windows-based software.
2. Work with outside hardware packagers and component suppliers to resolve drive train vibration problems.
3. Assess field measurements for customer and field service personnel.
4. Develop analytical mathematical models (mass-elastic data) of complete drive train systems from data provided by outside suppliers and well as in-house databases.
5. Supply customers with mass-elastic data of Dresser Waukesha models.
6. Provide technical support to other functional areas as required pertaining to new or improved engine design activities.
7. Write detailed analytical reports for customers.
8. Provide continuous improvement of in-house torsional vibration analysis methods, such as benchmarking analytical results using lab measurements, calculating excitations from measured data, and using engineering principles to update acceptability criteria.
9. Provide leadership to direct reports as required.
10. Participate in project technical design reviews.
11. Serve as the Engineering analysis representative on a project team as required.
12. Perform all required Business System transactions associated with analysis report releases as required.
13. Participate in the creation of Dresser Waukesha Quality documents.

Educational Background Required:
-Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology or equivalent education as approved by VP of Engineering.
-Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering desired.

Work Experience Required:
-Minimum of five years of torsional vibration analysis of drive trains consisting of reciprocating internal combustion engines and other rotating/reciprocating machinery.
-Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing, quality, and assembly processes.
-Demonstrated proficiency in technical and organizational assignments.
-Demonstrated proficiency performing torsional vibration calculations in trade-off studies to resolve drive train torsional vibration problems.
-Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills (i.e.- word processing, spreadsheets and database, MathCAD or similar).
-Demonstrated problem solving skills.

Work Experience Desired:
-Industrial engine design background with experience analyzing the torsional response of the drive systems..
-Demonstrated conceptual skills to resolve drive train vibration problems.
-Experience using torsional analysis tools.
-Experience interfacing with manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, and customers and the ability to mentor others in the Engineering organization.
-Experience working in project teams including knowledge of project management techniques and project software.
-Leadership experience
