Designer

Position Description
Design new, modified, or improved components and basic parts in accordance with engineering standards.

Position Responsibilities
-Prepare vehicle layouts and component part drawings with supporting calculations, i.e., weight, tolerance including GD&T, etc.
-Select parts and/or design components for cost and quality-conscious design.
-Follow project on the assembly floor or through prototype build when instructed by supervisor, and render assistance as necessary.
-Generate bills of material and assembly drawings as required by project.
-Adhere to time schedules.
-Consult with suppliers, customers, and members of Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Assembly, Service, Testing, Quality Control, and Marketing departments. Coordinate the transfer of engineering information and answer technical, design related questions as required.
-Utilize various state-of-the-art engineering tools, i.e., a personal computer (PC) or (CAD) equipment, in assigned projects as applicable. Proficiency in CADAM and CATIA required.

Requirements
Associate's Degree in Mechanical Design and computer-aided drawing. 3-5 years related experience. Mechanical skills inventory will be required to determine mechanical aptitude. 3D CAD experience, especially CATIA strongly desired. Experience with manufacturing processes such as fabricating, machining, and casting desired.
