System Gas Operations Specialist

It all starts here, with you.JOB SUMMARY:This role analyzes and monitors upstream and market area transportation contracts, gas supply arrangements and partnership agreements. Responsibilities include:-Provides support for storage programs and monitors partnership pool activities. -Assists in determining supply requirements and in development and implementation of supply plans. -Assists in assessing excess capacity and supports negotiation of deals. -Monitors compliance with operational balancing agreements. -Tracks nominations and actuals. -Supports imbalance paybacks scheduling arrangements. -Assists in negotiation of partnership agreement amendments. -Monitors and reviews partner billings. -Tracks and analyzes energy costs. -Monitors partner expansion plans.-Monitors Power Plant activity on both Dominion Transmission Incorporated (DTI) and Dominion Cove Point (DCP) and burn profiles in order to ensure adequate supply and capacity availability to meet requirements. -Monitors injection/withdrawal activities and compares actuals to planned. -Monitors capacity release activity relative to DTI's Market area transportation. -Serves as back-up role to coordinator, System Gas Operations. -Provides estimates of Operational Balancing Agreements to Accounting which are large components of the calculation of Non Purchased Supply Quantities (NPSQ).QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCES:-Knowledge of natural gas industry.-Knowledge of transmission pipeline operations, operating facilities, and marketing areas.-Knowledge of nomination procedures and pipeline bulletin boards.-Knowledge of upstream and market area transportation agreements.-Knowledge of upstream pipeline tariffs and capacity release procedures.-Knowledge of effects of operating decisions on profitability and competitiveness.-Understanding of contracting procedures and principles.-Understanding of marketing concepts and economic analysis.-Understanding of operational balancing agreements, upstream pipelines and operations-Ability to establish and maintain rapport.-Ability to plan and organize work.-Ability to operate personal computer.


EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree in business preferred.

Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for preferred education.
