Consulting Engineer – Gas Compliance #3308

 

As the Consulting Engineer in Gas Compliance you will work with supervisors and engineering staff throughout PSE providing expertise in compliance and technical problem solving. In addition you will represent PSE with internal and external customers including colleagues within PSE and government regulatory agencies. You will review audit reports and various forms of documentation to ensure compliance with federal and state codes and regulations and PSE standards. Assignments involve a substantial degree of complexity, with many interrelated elements, requiring considerations not previously encountered.  Specific responsibilities include:

·  Prepare complex engineering plans, designs, specifications, standards, evaluations and studies utilizing specialized analytical and compliance skills.

·  Solve unique problems using advanced analytical techniques and well developed follow through skills.

·  Plan and develop project budgets with appropriate documentation.

·  Communicate effectively with a variety of people possessing diverse educational and employment backgrounds.

·  Ensure compliance with regulations, codes, standards, design, operation, and maintenance requirements.

·  Identify potential areas of weakness with team’s work, and initiate corrective action.

·  Document and share work with others to strengthen the depth and breadth of skills within PSE’s various operating and supporting business units.

·  Develop solid working relationships with those inside and outside of PSE seeking common ground and agreements as appropriate

·  Provide technical leadership to others in the department and throughout the company.

·  Ensure that problem solutions are tailored to PSE’s business environment.

·  Develop, manage and measure the effectiveness of compliance related projects and programs.

·  Support emergency response work as requested including immediate and extended restoration efforts driven by weather and other system failures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or other appropriate engineering field. Professional Engineering License preferred.

· Extensive experience in planning, design, specification preparation, maintenance, project cost estimating and scheduling (typically achieved after 10 years’ practice as a degreed engineer). Experience within the utility industry preferred.

· Advanced technical and expertise.

· Demonstrated writing expertise.

· Demonstrated strong facilitation and problem solving skills.

· Experience leading engineering and/or complex projects.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Ability to work effectively and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external customers
