RF-Power Systems Applications Engineer - Seattle, WA

In this technology leadership role, the candidate would be able to engineer and architect IC subsytems which extend the battery life and performance of RF Transmit subsytems in 2G and 3G mobile handsets. The candidate would be part of an engineering team working with marketing/engineering to enable the design the National Semiconductor IC system products. Detailed engineering work would involve the RF engineering involving the mobile standards (2.5G, 802.16e, UMTS 3GPP, SC-FDMA/OFDM), advanced high-performance and high-frequency dc/dc switching regulators and related analog, mixed-signal, digital circuits.

The successful candidate should have a working knowledge and design experience in as many  of the following areas as possible:

· High-frequency (MHz) dc/dc switching regulator feedback control architectures, modeling, design trade-offs

· RF Transmit system level design of Linear and Saturated RF Power Amplifier Architectures

· CMOS Analog IC design

· Design, engineering, board level implementation of systems involving the above

Knowledge of the following is desired:

· Agilent Signal Studio

· Understanding of 3GPP standards

· Altium, ORCAD PCB Board Design tools

· Lab automation and system characterization

Further responsibilities will require your advanced level of expertise and contributions to advanced methods and techniques of the field; developing solutions for problems that are not clearly defined; providing solutions requiring ingenuity and creativity that often result in an innovative combination of existing knowledge or creation of new products or processes. Coordinating broad projects and ensuring adherence to established project plans, schedules, and budget. Planning project resources as required, providing technical guidance and leadership to other engineers.

The ideal candidate will possess a BSEE with 8+ years of related experience, or a MSEE with 5+ years of related exerience.
