Job Description:

The North American Director, Danaher Business System (DBS) is responsible for maintaining Danaher’s record of continuous improvement by deploying a variety of tools, processes and concepts that improve business performance and by ensuring associate actions and activities to support Danaher goals.  The North American Director will lead continuous improvement activities across the North American Electronic Test & Measurement organization.  The role will oversee all DBS activity to ensure coordinated progress toward the completion of Policy Deployment objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Work with assigned business leaders to establish DBS priorities in-line with Policy Deployment priorities. 

· Promote and facilitate the diagnosis of flow of work and information to identify improvement priorities.

· Continue to evolve the DBS orientation with assigned leaders and ensure the use of DBS tools in daily management.

· Develop and deploy DBS lean tools and growth tools throughout the organization.

· Create in-house DBS expertise through the certification of Master Black Belts across the platform.

· Audit DBS activities, assist business unit leaders in determining direction and initiative, coach and train business unit leaders on DBS principles.

· Perform benchmarking studies as required.

· Drive the identification and adoption of “best practices” across the organization.

· Run and sensei kaizen events as needed

· Build a DBS organization in North America that is an exporter of talent

 

Qualifications: 

· MBA preferred, BS in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Accounting or related field required

· 10+ years experience in leading-edge lean manufacturing or process oriented environments including at least five years managing teams

· Hands-on experience running a factory > $100m (preferred)

· Demonstrated mastery of a variety of lean and Six Sigma tools (value stream mapping, 5S, flow, pull, etc.)

· Proven track record of leading lean initiatives to achieve business results

· Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situation s from a “general manager’s” point of view

· Strong ability to use business metrics to drive business results

· Ability to design, develop, and implement a DBS roadmap for an operating business

· Strong influence skills

· Collaborative working style

· Excellent communications and instruction skills

· Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training environments

· Good writing and administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet)
