Job Description:
Manage piezoelectric product engineering efforts in North America and China, including the planning and execution of product development, design validation, design for manufacturability, process evaluation, etc. Provide technical support to customer service groups, interact directly with customer design teams, and become a key technical contributor. Manage engineering departments in Hampton, VA, and direct the efforts of an engineering team in Shenzhen China. The position requires direct involvement with manufacturing engineering and production groups for product support and problem solving. Other duties include direct involvement in electro-mechanical sensor design as well as initiation of value engineering and product cost reduction efforts and interaction with the global ERP system. The position will involve occasional hands-on lab work, analysis, and product failure investigation. Up to 30% travel may be required, including international.
Requirements: BS ME/EE/Physics, M.S. degree preferred, 10+ years experience including engineering management in a product development environment. Good communication and leadership skills are essential. Candidate must be comfortable with a variety of technical disciplines (mechanics, electronics, material science, acoustics, etc.). Experience with manufacturing technologies is essential, direct experience in a product engineering environment associated with volume production preferred. Sensor or medical device experience a plus. Must be a US citizen.
This opportunity demands simultaneous involvement in a variety of programs. The position requires a focused but adaptable personality capable of working across production, sales, and customer engineering groups. The candidate must be customer driven and capable of working efficiently with deadlines and schedules. The ideal candidate will be self motivated leader with record of product development success.
