About Carroll U:Carroll University, the pioneer institution of higher education in the state of Wisconsin, seeks candidates for the position of vice president for institutional advancement. This position has broad strategic and management responsibility for conceiving and implementing long- and short-term advancement plans, including fund raising, board development and alumni relations. He or she will serve as the chief adviser to the president on all matters related to institutional advancement. The vice president will be responsible for the cultivation of donors, alumni, corporations, foundations, community groups and others as part of an overall development plan, and will lead a professional staff to set and attain annual campaign, development and constituency relations goals. The vice president for advancement will be a highly visible representative of the university to a wide array of internal and external audiences. The vice president for institutional advancement reports directly to the president of Carroll University. This individual serves as a member of the university's senior staff, working collaboratively with the vice president of finance and administrative services, provost and vice president of academic affairs, and vice president of enrollment. Responsibilities: • Manage all fund raising programs, establish strategies and develop plans to achieve attainment of institutional goals. • Direct all aspects for the current campaign focused on raising funds for new and renovated science facilities. • Work with the president and the board of trustees to articulate a clear strategic plan to increase both philanthropic and participatory investment from the institution's stakeholders. • Develop close relationships with board members, major donors and prospects in all constituency groups. • Manage a portfolio of current and prospective major donors to the institution. • Engage in the identification and evaluation of prospective donors and personally solicit major gifts. • Serve as administrative liaison to the advancement and trustee committees of the board of trustees. • Provide leadership to the continued enhancement of Carroll's relationships with its external constituencies and lead the efforts of the President's Advisory Council. • Recruit, retain and motivate a highly competent and dedicated staff. • Administer budgets, management controls, policies and procedures for the office. • Undertake other duties as assigned. Experience and Qualifications: The vice president for institutional advancement will be an experienced advancement professional with demonstrated capital campaign expertise, management experience and the ability to lead a team. Strong interpersonal communication skills are required to develop and enhance productive relationships with key internal and external constituencies. A bachelor's degree is required. It is expected that the vice president will demonstrate: • Keen interest in, and compatibility with, Carroll University's mission, history and strategic direction. • Skills to further enhance a successful advancement model to achieve institutional goals. • Ability to work collaboratively and engage others in the advancement program. • Experience in successful management of capital campaigns, especially related to science and health education initiatives. • Strong understanding of a comprehensive advancement program. • Exceptional communication skills. • The ability to mentor, motivate and encourage a team-oriented staff. • Experience engaging, supporting and cultivating trustees. • A collaborative working style. • Successful experience in establishing and executing strategic plans for the advancement operation.
