System Administrator/Programmer Analyst

Alverno College provides students with real-life, hands-on experiences in the classroom, in study-abroad opportunities and in professional internships related to their major. These experiences, among others, help to support Alverno's ranking in U.S.News & World Report's America's Best Colleges 2008 guide, "Programs to Look For", "Best Universities-Master's-Midwest Region" and “Schools to Watch” section, listing schools which implemented striking innovations and changes.



We need a System Administrator/Programmer AnalystSystem who is experienced with the administration of Unix, UniData, DMI and web server system configuration, security, maintenance, performance monitoring, license monitoring, user set-up, system back-up, and shell programming.  Responsible for the analysis, technical development, implementation, integration, documentation, and on-going support of computer system.  Manage the integration of UNIX, UniData, administrative software and hardware.  Troubleshoot problems with the system and/or processes.  Involves daily interaction with internal customers.



We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a close-knit team environment. This diversified position requires strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills. Bachelor’s degree in MIS or Computer Science required. A minimum of 4-5 years of system administration experience in a UNIX environment with relational database software, programming, and query languages, preferably using Datatel and UniData. Experience with SQL and exposure to web environment is required. Linux, Dreamweaver, VBA and PERL experience desirable. Must occasionally work outside normal business hours in order to perform maintenance, complete upgrades, and resolve critical issues.
