A leading provider of online, career education seeks qualified candidates to join its team in the role of Librarian.

Under limited supervision, the Librarian provides operational management of a small, self-contained library operation, to include planning and organizing workflow, initiating and implementing operating policies and procedures, personnel and budget management, and record maintenance; assists in long-term needs assessment and goal planning.  Works with the faculty, students and staff to provide all forms of printed, audio visual and online information and manages the book loaner program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the Library. Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Develops and implements systems to maintain records on employees. Develops annual operating budget and provides direction to the unit. Oversees the acquisition, cataloging, processing and arrangement of materials.Instructs students and faculty on using the Library and its resources, including the Internet and the Virtual Library; provides reference services.Maintains and compiles statistical data regarding Library operations and conducts annual inventory of Library materials. Reviews, evaluates, and recommends library materials and serves as a liaison to administration and the teaching faculty in this process. Maintains professional knowledge and skills through continued education and/or research. Supervises the use of the computer systems within the Library, manages the Bookstore and administers the book loaner program.  Works closely with the textbook department.Provides the Business Office with reports of un-recovered books at the end of each term.Contributes to the goals and direction of the Library.Maintains Library facilities as required.Promotes Library services to all potential users.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in Library Science preferred.  A Bachelor’s degree in a related Administrative, Business, Liberal Arts, or Social Sciences discipline with 3 to 5 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified will be considered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Knowledge of all facets of library operations. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to assess objectives and operational requirements and to develop and implement suitable operational policies and/or procedures. Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures. Employee development and performance management skills. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
