FINANCE - Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Affairs

Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Affairs.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a doctoral research-extensive university in the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System all broadly governed by the State's Board of Regents. It was founded on the belief that if Milwaukee were to be a great city, it would need a great, urban public university. The themes of educating students, excelling in research, and serving its urban community are echoed in all University activities. The University offers 86 undergraduate majors, 49 master's degrees, and 23 doctoral programs, serving over 28,000 students. The 92-acre main campus is located in a residential neighborhood near the shores of Lake Michigan, just minutes from downtown Milwaukee.

The Division of Finance and Administrative Affairs within the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee provides infrastructure support to the University community and has spending authority of $49 million with approximately 400 FTE in 100 budgetary units and 15 various funds.
Finance and Administrative Affairs consists of the following seven departments:

Business and Financial Services
Internal Audit
Legal Affairs
Facility Services
University Architects/Planning and Transportation
University Police
University Safety and Assurances

Our departments perform the accounting functions, plan for building construction and remodeling, maintain healthy and safe research environments, provide security and protective services, clean and maintain the campus buildings and grounds, ensure fiscal integrity of campus financial operations, and provide legal advice and representation. Every employee in Finance and Administrative Affairs is expected to be a professional who provides superb customer service.

Like most research institutions, UWM is a large complex organization that can sometimes be difficult to navigate. Finance and Administrative Affairs strives to accomplish goals in an expeditious way, yet consistent with the myriad of policies and regulations that govern how state agencies operate. We are proud that the Division is equipped with problem solvers who strive to use creativity and integrity to get things done.
