Director of Admissions-Online
Seeks a highly motivated professional to join the admissions team in the role of Director of Admissions. Functions are as listed below:
SUMMARY:
Directs the daily operations of the Admissions function. Identifies opportunities, develops strategies, and executes plans to increase the quantity and preparedness of admitted students. Improves student success rate and retention through development and delivery of enhanced admissions processes and capability. Assists in policy planning and development on admissions-related matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs activities of the admissions function which includes supervising and consulting on and implementing school policy for admission and articulation; reviews special admissions cases and requests for exceptions to policies. Establishes and implements short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating processes; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; champions and effects changes required for improvement. Leads and manages assigned personnel to effectively accomplish the college’s goals and objectives. Recruits, hires, develops, supervises, and evaluates Admission personnel to increase the capacity and capability of the organization and improve the student experience. Plans and develops strategies for admission of students to meet enrollment goals. Supervises the development and implementation of enhancements to the admissions process and interdepartmental handoffs. Develops and manages annual budgets for the department and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses. Plans, develops, and implements strategies for growing the revenues of the college/business unit.Oversees the overall operations of units reporting to this position. Represents Virginia College Online to various institutional divisions as well as externally to government agencies, funding agencies, students, and/or the general public/local community. Recommends and participates in the development of college policies and procedures; may serve on college planning and policy-making committees. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in a related Administrative, Business, Liberal Arts, or Social Sciences discipline with 5 to 7 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues. Expertise in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Knowledge of laws, regulations, methods, and techniques in area of specialty. Ability to create and edit written materials. Knowledge of admissions standards. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques. Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, scheduling, and executing work assignments. Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community. Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues. Expertise in full employee life cycle practices – recruiting, hiring, developing, and performance managing.Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Ability to plan, develop, and implement growth strategies and programs. Knowledge of computerized student information systems.Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
