JOB SUMMARY: The Human Genome Sequencing Center at Baylor College of Medicine is one of three large-scale sequencing centers funded by the National Institutes of Health. HGSC is currently accepting applications for a Senior Account Manager/Business Manager.  In this position, you will handle the following:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS: 1.Oversee the day-to-day financial business of the HGSC in conjunction with the Center's Administrator and HR Manager. Includes the following tasks and areas: a. Review accounting documents (PO's, JV's, check requests and travel documents) for correctness and compliance with applicable BCM and/or sponsor guidelines. b. Monitor HGSC accounts and balances to ensure proper burn rates, etc. c. Monitor HGSC accounts to ensure correct postings (charges, indirect costs, transfers, etc.). d. Supervise daily work of Senior Accountant, Purchasing Coordinator and other administrative personnel with respect to any related financial duties. e. Assign/monitor SAP Security. 2. Final responsibility for completing monthly financial business for the HGSC in conjunction with HGSC Senior Accountant. 3. Ongoing, periodic responsibilities to include: a. Prepare and/or assist in development of proposal budgets. b. Prepare and/or assist in development of annual fiscal budgets. c. Review and assist with project close-out procedures. d. Perform annual fiscal close-outs. e. Periodic review and update of pricing and billing procedures. f. Participate in the development of HGSC quarterly cost reports in conjunction with HGSC administrator and H.R. Manager with final responsibility for completion of project tables and report forms. 4. Handle all aspects of grants management (both pre and post award) to include preparation of pre-award budgets and budget justifications. 5. Work with Center's Administrator to manage other administrative activities and projects as assigned including budget development, financial analysis and cost modeling, pricing development, proposal development and coordination with faculty, Baylor College of Medicine administration and outside contacts. 6. Demonstrate the following requisite professional qualities: a. Absolute accuracy and attention to detail. b. Excellent task management skills. b. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with HGSC personnel at all levels (senior management/faculty/staff/junior staff) depending on the task. c.
