St. Mechanical Engineer - Testing
This position defines, documents, analyzes, performs, and interprets developmental tests for new and/or modified accessory products.
Specific duties include:
· Supports new product design teams through test development, data analysis, and competitor benchmarking.
· Interprets performance data and makes formal recommendations to product design teams.
· Reviews and thoroughly understands product functional and design specifications
· Develops test requirements per specifications during new product design phase. Prepares test procedures from test specifications.
· Establishes and executes schedules associated with test processes.
· Supports product marketing by exploring extremes in product performance to highlight competitive advantage.
· Prepares and maintains a variety of reports; manages documentation control systems.
· Develops and coordinates the build of test fixtures.
· Maintains test procedures and equipment.
· Creates documentation of test fixtures, theory of operation, and specifications.
· Manages multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions.
· Acts as a technical resource to other departments regarding test issues.
· Manages direct reports. Provides performance feedback to cross functional team members for performance reviews.
· Remains current in technology and changes in the industry.
· Uses Design of Experiments (DOE) analytical techniques.
Education & Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of 5 years experience in an engineering lab environment with supervisory experience.
· Working knowledge of advanced statistical methods.
· Must posses knowledge of engineering materials used in power tools and power tool accessories along with a familiarity of the mechanical properties of these materials.
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
