Assoc Engineer

Primary Purpose of this position: This position is responsible for assisting in the design and prototyping of manufacturing machinery and parts. Also is responsible for maintaining resources used by the engineering department.Essential Functions:? Assist in the design of new machinery, fixtures and tools as required to manufacture products.? Contribute to the decision making process in the development of new machinery.? Assist with the selection and purchase of new parts and equipment to support machine manufacture and/or revisions.? Revise existing machine designs as required to improve operating efficiency and reduce scrap.? Provide engineering leadership to small-scale projects, from concept through completion, as required? Delegate, as required, Engineering Drawing Request workload to contract designers on staff? Revise drawings per marked up prints as required.? Create new engineering drawings from an existing part.? Assist with the installation, debug, start up and validation of new and/or modified machinery.? Organize and maintain Engineering file systems and procedures.? Assist with cost estimates and budgets as related to new and/or revised equipment.Experience/Education Required:? Associate Degree in science of Engineering technology or equivalent work experience? Experience with SolidWorks and all peripherals and MS Office? Thorough working knowledge of Machine Shop practices and procedures? Good computer knowledge in software and hardware? Thorough working knowledge of mechanical drawing proceduresSkills and Abilities Required:? A strong mechanical aptitude and strong working knowledge of high-speed production machinery is helpful.? Strong communication and presentation skills. Must be able to communicate to all levels of the organization and with outside machine shops and vendors.? Ability to handle multiple priorities with tight schedules?
