Senior Design Engineer
VDOT's Location and Design Division is seeking a Senior Design Engineer who is a Professional Engineer to lead design activities in a responsible charge position, provide management of design projects to produce Right of Way and construction plans. Provides assistance to the Section Manager by directing project team members to ensure budgets and schedules are maintained; and maintains quality control of products produced by the team. Assists in reviewing Special Projects as needed based on group workload. Moving and relocation assistance and other incentives may be available to the selected candidate.
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated knowledge and work experience of roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards, specifications and construction materials. Demonstrated knowledge and work experience of civil engineering principles as they relate to roadway design and Standard Design technical knowledge; ensures compliance with Department standards, specifications, policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of roadway safety that impact roadway designs. Demonstrated skill in building effective teams; and in effective communication both orally and in writing with diverse groups; in civil engineering principles; effectively planning and scheduling work; and providing exemplary customer service. Demonstrated ability to utilize computer programs for engineering including Geopak, communications, and databases. Prefer Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent education/experience. PE or exempt by code of Virginia. Statement of Economic Interest (Financial Disclosure) required.
