BUYER

The position of Buyer at the Jasper location is primarily responsible for negotiating with outside suppliers for the purchase of capital equipment, materials and supplies in accordance with the requirements of all company requisitions.  The Buyer also administers long-term purchasing agreements in accordance with agreed upon terms and conditions.

Essential Functions:Receive and review all requisitions and /or quotes for completenessPerform liaison activities with appropriate purchasing and/or construction and supervision personnelNegotiate price and delivery with vendorsReview invoices for accuracy, ensure invoices are received into PeopleSoft, approved and forwarded to AP for paymentPrepare purchase orders for various Project Manager, for the purchase of construction supplies, materials and equipment for special projects of construction in the United States and South AmericaSelect reliable sources, request bids, evaluate quotations and make final supplier selection in accordance with company policywork with Perry Supply on the purchase and payment of Perry Supply furnished materialsMaintain good working relationship with suppliers.

 Additional ResponsibilitiesAssemble and maintain project files on all purchase orders, supplier and cost information at an appropriately confidential levelPrepare purchase orders for other departments in the Jasper facilityAssist operations with idle and scrap asset liquidation and negotiate vendor agreements to maximize revenue return for asset liquidationExpedite items and report progressTrain additional personnel, as required

QualificationsGood Oral and written communication and presentation skillsAbove average research skills3-5 years experience in capital purchasingStrong computer skills with emphasis in Microsoft Office productsKnowledge of internet sourcing and research

PreferredExperience with PeopleSoft purchasing softwareAbility to speak and understand SpanishCertification in Purchasing/InventoryCollege Degree preferably with concentration in business or equivalent work experience
