Modeling Engineer
Create, maintain, and improve engineering modeling and data management software applications to support new product and technology development projects in the Engineering & Technology function of Trane Commercial Systems. Support the use of these applications to troubleshoot, analyze, and offer solutions to performance and reliability problems of HVAC components & systems in the lab or field.• Design and develop predictive engines and data processing applications for HVAC components & systems. • Lead team to execute high-impact software overhaul projects. • Improve, standardize, and maintain existing in-house software tools. • Provide mentorship and share best practices in areas of expertise. • Work closely with team members, cross-functional associates, and internal customers in dynamic global environment to collaborate, gather requirements, provide updates/reports, train end-users, etc. • Document work per established internal standards and suggest improvements to procedures.BS in mechanical engineering or computer science (CS), with preference for MS in CS undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering or physics OR MS in mechanical engineering with strong software development background. 3-5 years experience developing software applications in engineering environment required. 1-2 years experience in project management required. Must have expertise in all aspects of software product life cycle, including development of software plans & specifications based on high-level requirements, design methods, user interface, & design verification & validation tests. Programming expertise required. MCSE certification or equivalent experience in .NET platform desirable. Basic understanding of thermal engineering concepts required, gained preferably from experience with HVAC components & systems. Experience in problem formulation & solution using numerical methods via commercial solvers & custom code required.Apply Now
