This position assists in the design and deployment of complex enterprise applications that address business requirements and comply with established IT architecture standards and policies. The position possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of departmental IT architectures as well as concepts, principles and practices in the network, server, database and security areas. This position will be responsible for ensuring that new and existing IT architecture policies, standards, designs and procedures are followed such that the department's infrastructure is maintained at a high level of reliability.

Specialist level
Working with applications development staff, business area representatives and technical support staff this position designs and deploys complex enterprise applications that address business requirements and comply with established IT architecture standards and policies. The position possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of departmental IT architectures as well as concepts, principles and practices in the network, server, database and security areas. This position will also serve on project teams providing input and direction regarding IT architectural standards and strategies as well as representing OTS within intra-agency meetings and initiatives. This position will be responsible for ensuring that new and existing IT architecture policies, standards, designs and procedures are followed such that the department's infrastructure is maintained at a high level of reliability. This position participates in the establishment and modification of IT architecture policies, standards and procedures which impact the departments overall IT architecture strategies. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent customer, vendor and peer relationships. This position will function with a high degree of independence, and work under the general supervision of the Application Environment Support Section Chief.

Knowledge Required: Database concepts and methodology Db-2 data table definition SQL coding and tuning Systems Software installation and support Db2 UDB internals (buffering, work space, free space, etc.) IT Infrastructure knowledge, networking, Client workstations PC/Server/LAN/Data Communications implementation, testing and tuning methods and techniques Physical Database Design Systems Analysis and Design, HTML Problem diagnostic and resolution techniques Ability to work with vendors to identify and resolve problems; Needs assessment techniques DP Concepts and Techniques Effective Oral and written communication skills
