Position Summary
A senior-level individual contributor in the Information Technology department to oversee and coordinate global security efforts across the company involving data, network & information technology, telecommunications, and facilities. Responsible for security risk assessments, definition of initiatives to address risks, and development/promulgation best-practice standards, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities Responsible for upholding F5's Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies. Risk Assessment: develop and execute a plan to conduct ongoing, systematic assessment of security risks associated with the company’s global network and systems infrastructure, including external and internal resources as well as physical security. Document for management reporting. Initiatives: Recommend initiatives to address identified security risks. Manage execution of approved initiatives as assigned. Strategy: Develop, implement, and manage the overall enterprise process for security strategy and associated architecture and engineering standards. System Standards: Establish detailed security standards and define procedures to ensure information systems are developed, implemented, and maintained accordingly. Compliance: Work with Legal and Accounting departments to fully understand F5’s regulatory and contractual information security obligations. Lead efforts to ensure full compliance. Act as primary IT focal point for internal/external auditors regarding IT security controls. Vendors: Work with vendors, outside consultants, and other third parties to improve F5 systems security. Policies: Develop and implement corporate policies, standards and guidelines related to information systems security. Incident Response: Develop documented procedures for responding to security breaches. Lead incident investigations and coordinate follow-up remediation activities. Education: Coordinate systems security awareness and training initiatives to ensure all employees understand their responsibilities in this area.
Qualifications At least 3 years experience managing a technology team BA/BS degree in a related discipline, or equivalent applicable experience. Technical and/or security certifications highly desirable, e.g., CISSP, GIAC, CISM, MCSP, CCSP, CCNA, RHCE. 7+ years corporate experience, with at least 3+ years focused on information systems security Technical: in-depth familiarity with systems and network infrastructure security technologies, including application/OS hardening techniques, network protocols, network & application firewalls, intrusion detection systems. Hands-on familiarity with security risk-assessment tools & techniques (vulnerability testing, penetration testing, social engineering, etc) Demonstrated program/project management abilities. Business Perspective: recognizes that policies must be conceived and implemented in the context of a dynamic, customer-oriented, for-profit business environment Excellent written & verbal communications; superior interpersonal, planning, documentation, organization, and problem solving skills. Able to act independently; interface with people at all levels in the company, and take initiative to engage internal & external personnel/services to ensure effective & reliable systems. Foreign language skills a plus Proven experience managing a team to achieve positive results
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk/computer table. Some mobility is required to visit work locations within the same building and in remote offices. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Duties may require travel via automobile or airplane, and may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
