UNIX System Administrator

Symmetry Corporation, The Basis Experts, is seeking a Senior DBA (3-5 years experience) with demonstrated knowledge in UNIX (HP, AIX, Solaris, or Linux) and Windows environments. This person would perform ongoing database administration tasks, including database reorgs, routine maintenance, performance tuning, installation, database migrations, and backup/recovery.Responsibilities: Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production Work with system admins and development staff to develop and document database architectures, policies and procedures. Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues. Monitor database system details within the database Design and implement HA, disaster recovery and data archiving procedures. Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systemsRequirements: 2+ years of experience preferred Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to modify/create UNIX shell scripts. Strong knowledge of backup/recovery processes Strong technical documentation skills Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards and products as required Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Experience with DBA tools such as Enterprise Manager, etc. is desired Experience with large (1+TB) ERP systems (such as SAP) and third party products for these systems is a plus Good interpersonal skills, reliability, and flexibility, demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written
