Network/System Administrator
POSITION ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs system administration and management activities, including directing and coordinating the Information Technology Operations & Technical Support Team, to plan, design, build, deploy, operate and protect our client's IT infrastructure and architecture, IT environment and IT assets, including all hardware (servers and client workstations) and peripherals, network (fiber, wired, and wireless) and network components, system software, business systems, internet, intranet, and extranet systems.
· Performs capacity planning, performance management, disaster recovery planning, scheduled data archival, backups, and exception-based data recovery activities, disaster recovery drills, and benchmarking analyses to ensure high availability, performance, reliability, and security of the client's IT infrastructure and architecture to protect computing and data assets from viruses, unauthorized access and external threats.
· Monitors and manages day-to-day operations of the data center, network, internet connectivity, firewalls, system software, and client work stations required for efficient business operations. Oversees, coordinates, resolves issues, and coordinates third party technical support, as appropriate, complying with mutually agreed upon service level agreements, communicating status of Help Desk issue resolution to end users. Escalates issues as appropriate to management.
· Recommends and stewards our client's IT infrastructure and architecture security policy, standards, guidelines, processes,and procedures for managing technical operations, hardware, software, network and system usage and access.
· Periodically performs security audits to evaluate the security of our client's IT infrastructure, architecture, and data assets, reporting findings and recommendations to IT management, and plans, leads, coordinates, and implements corrective actions as appropriate.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A combination of education and experience will be considered.Minimum of 6 years experience in system administration, performance management, network design and administration, technical operations management. Minimum of 6 years experience troubleshooting and providing technical support for hardware (servers, peripherals, and workstations), integrated voice/data communications (LAN, WAN, public network/dial-ton, and VoIP) networks, and software, including Microsoft operating systems (Windows Server 2003/2007, Windows XP, NT, 98, Vista), MS Office and other productivity tools. Strong working knowledge of network architecture, design, operating systems, and administration, including TCP/IP and wireless point-to-point, including working with and troubleshooting fiber optic cabling. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2007, Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 98 and Microsoft Vista operating systems; Microsoft Exchange/Outlook, Active Directory, Microsoft IIS; anti-virus, anti-spam, and content filtering software, VPN, firewalls, routers, bridges and wireless technology.Strong working knowledge of RAID configurations and support, including SCSI, SATA, and ESATA drives.Strong working knowledge of tape handling for data archival, restoration and secure storage, including tape handling equipment. Strong working knowledge of voice and data equipment and systems.Experience with video conferencing and web casting equipment highly desirable.Microsoft/CompTIA certifications are highly desirable, continuing education leading to certification is acceptable.This will be a 3-6 month contract to hire job.
