Desktop Support Specialist

The University Information Technology Services (UITS) division at the Universityof Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is currently seeking a Desktop SupportSpecialist. The Desktop Support Specialist will work with theDesktop Support Manager and other Desktop Support staff to provide additional Microsoftoperating system development expertise for large, campus-wide web developmentinitiatives, including departmental office computers and Campus ComputerLabs. Responsibilities include developingtechnical solutions, creating project plans, meeting with clients to determineneeds, and working with other desktop support staff to design, maintain, andsupport current and future desktop infrastructure. Well-qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3years experience in an enterprise environment supporting a diverse group ofclients as well as possess Microsoft, Linux, Security or other similarcertification. Advanced knowledge ofWindows operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, Symantec Ghost, andpackage creation installers for custom software deployment is necessary forsuccess in this position. Strongcandidates will possess knowledge of desktop deployment automation and securityhardening. Macintosh and Linux desktopknowledge is also relevant to this role.
