Senior Manager - Online Marketing
PURPOSE:The Senior Manager of Marketing will have overall responsibility for all online customer acquisition, conversion, and retention programs for domestic and international efforts. Develop annual marketing plans and budget to achieve ROI objectives. Oversees and directs the marketing strategies, creative, production and reporting of all online marketing activity – including online communities, paid search, affiliate marketing, and emerging online marketing opportunities such as Social Shopping applications, content syndication and social media techniques. Further, the Senior Manager of Marketing must be the key integration with Chain Marketing and Stores in the integration of on-site marketing messaging (e.g. store window to web ‘window’ messaging) - driving cross-channel programs. Finally, this position must also work closely with our Email Marketing COE (center of excellence) to ensure email is properly supporting both Direct and Stores business. RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategy, Budgeting & Goal Setting Develop strategic plans for multi-channel and online-focused marketing. Develop budgets and ROI goals for online marketing programs. Lead contingency planning for additional spending and cost cutting of online marketing budget.Online Marketing & Brand Management Work closely with store marketing/CRM and AE Direct merchandising to deliver an integrated marketing plan for online outlining objectives, major initiatives, and customer strategies. Oversee all online programs, including search engine marketing, affiliate marketing, social networking (MySpace, Facebook), banner advertising, competitive market analysis, website analytics, site search, and co-marketing opportunities. Manage strategic relationship with internal e-mail partners and online marketing vendors. Assist in online brand protection effort and partner with Legal to halt sites stealing traffic and/or infringing on AE brand identity. Lead marketing team seasonal hind-sighting for program performance analysis. Multi-Channel Integration Work closely with store operations and chain marketing for multi-channel integration efforts. Work collaboratively with CRM group to conceive of, execute, and measure successful campaigns targeted at high-opportunity customer segments. Lead marketing efforts to convert single-channel customers to multi-channel including, but not limited to in-store Free Shipping programs, Store Referral Program, and extend to other new programs.International Partner with EVP International/E-commerce and chain marketing to lead strategy development of online and offline marketing plans for AE Direct’s international expansion. This incorporates both in-store and out-of-store consumer touch points (advertising, media plan, in-store signage, web site development, CRM, PR and traffic driving tactics). Business Development Understand online marketing industry trends to find additional sales opportunities Identify new business development opportunities to achieve strategic plan and ROI objectives. Develop RFPs, lead vendor selection and assessments, develop contractual documentation with necessary approvals, and manage implementation of agreements.Personnel Management Build and lead the team of marketers to ensure effective cross-functional project management & strong leadership and partnership in the planning and execution of marketing plans, strategies and tactics. Conduct performance reviews, succession planning, and organizational planning. AUTHORITY: Establish and manage $7-8 MM annual online marketing budget Manage direct reports. Supervisory responsibilities including goal setting, performance reviews, compensation, and employment decisions. Develop third-party relationships for online marketing, manage pricing and contract negotiations. Approve expenditures up to $25,000 QUALIFICATIONS:· BA/BS degree in marketing or related field. Advanced degree required.· Minimum of 6 years related marketing and business management. Experience in a retail environment preferred.· Minimum 4 years of online marketing management experience, specifically in managing programs such as affiliate, pay-per-click, natural search, and email marketing. · Prior managerial/supervisory experience.· Proven ability to launch and manage online marketing programs. · Experience managing similar budgets as outlined above.· Flexible and creative thinker.· Skill in negotiating strategic partnerships. · Travel is required, including the potential for international travel· High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications· Strong verbal and written communication skills.· Strong interpersonal, prioritizing, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), presentation & planning skills. · Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.· Ability to work with and influence senior management.· Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.· Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
