Position Description:JOB SUMMARYProvides technical support for stationary equipment design, specification, selection, fabrication, inspection, installation, and maintenance, including vessels, heat exchangers, reactors and piping for Primary Materials Engineering (PME). Consults corporate-wide on stationary equipment.MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides technical consultation for Stationary Equipment and Piping Systems, including support systems, stress analysis and standards maintenance. Supports capital project work in the design, specification, selection, fabrication, installation and start-up of stationary equipment and piping systems.Maintains and/or establishes appropriate “Best Practices” and/or Engineering Standards for stationary equipment and piping systems, and maintains the Engineering Standard’s Website.Provides technical leadership or support to the Pipe, Valve and Fitting vendor alliance, the Fabricated Equipment vendor alliance, and the FAB Team.Oversees or performs Fitness-for-Service evaluations on stationary equipment and piping systems with the goal of extending the life of the equipment.Provides stationary equipment and piping systems Best Practice and standards mentoring and training for the PME community.Participates in Process Industry Practices.May provide consulting support to the Mechanical Integrity Leadership Team (MILT).May participate in and support the Quality Assurance Leadership Team (QALT).May provide Quality Control of Piping Materials and Fabricated Equipment through maintaining the Approved Manufacturers’ List (AML).May provide Engineering and QC Manual support – Rohm and Haas Texas Weld Shop Certificate of Authorization for U and R stamps.Provides back-up support for the Plant Stationary Equipment Engineer and the other Stationary Equipment/Piping Engineering Specialist.Performs other related duties, as required. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education and Experience Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.• Minimum of ten (10) years experience including all aspects of design, specification, selection, fabrication, installation and start-up of stationary equipment and piping systems. Certifications/Affiliations • Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas preferred.• Certified API 510 and 570 Inspector SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Required:•Very knowledgeable and proficient in the design, specification, selection, fabrication, installation and start-up of stationary equipment and piping systems.•Strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering, including statics, mechanics of materials, and machine design, damage mechanisms, and materials.•Networks externally to keep aware of changes in Industry Practices, Codes and Standards.•Strong interpersonal skills, with capability of acting independently.•Knowledge of ASME, PIP, API, ASTM, MSS, and other industry codes and standards.•Demonstrates respect, inclusion, cooperation and responsibility (RICR).•Demonstrates the following competencies customer focus, srategic focus, global perspective, bias for action, adaptive to change, creative problem solving, professional credibility, business acumen, persuasion and influence, safety performance, interpersonal effectiveness•Proficient with computerized equipment design and analysis software (MathCad, CodeCalc, PVElite, and Caesar II).Rohm and Haas Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity worldwide Rohm and Haas is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity worldwide.
