Performance Products is a global supplier of high strength and specialty fibers and solutions for a broad range of industrial, consumer and military uses. The business offers a full spectrum of products and technologies. This enterprise consists of three segments, Advanced Fibers and Composites, Specialty Films and Specialty Additives. Our facility in Colonial Heights, VA, has an immediate need for a Senior Project Manager to act as a Leader for Global Capital Projects.
 
This position of Senior Project Manager will have the following responsibilities:
Manage the execution of capital projects > $250 MM through their entire life cycles; including process package development, capital scope estimate, prioritization, scoping, design, construction, and start up; using recognized engineering and project management tools in the areas of estimating, scheduling, design, procurement, and construction.Monitor execution of outside design/construct contractors to identify performance with regards to quality of work, cost and schedule.Accountable for the project producing product to specifications, completion on-time, on-budget and to internal customer?s satisfaction.Experience working with large A&E firms in China strongly preferred.Scope: Broad ControlIndirectly coordinates activities of 50-100 professionals in the execution of project activities in a matrix type organization.Management of a large project in China (>$250 MM). Key Success Factors: (Specific expectations during next 6 - 18 months)Independently manages assigned capital program. Optimizes project cost & schedule to meet facility priorities and SBE capital objectives with the key emphasis on maximizing the effectiveness of Honeywell's investments.Thoroughly understands and uses the Design for Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools.Mentors and supervises less experienced Project and Process Managers. Ensures best practices such as structured Capital Project Management Process (CPMP), engineering procedures, standards, and practices, are continuously improved and standardized upon.Demonstrates proficiency and compliance with CPMP and other best practices and company work processes.Demonstrates the ability to form and lead teams in the resolution of problems and the application of sustained solutions.Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:Technical ExcellenceUnderstands engineering and personnel management principles.Strong familiarity with specific PM techniques and practices.Familiar with and effectively applies structured capital management process such as Honeywell's Capital Project Management Process (CPMP) in daily work activities.Intuitive problem solver.Fundamental understanding of contract, legal, and negotiating skillsCommunicationsDisplays top-notch skill in both written and oral communications.Can track the earned value of work performed, performance against budget and schedule, and report progress to customers accurately and effectively.Understands and communicates project engineering performance measurements.Drives applicable PSM requirements.InterpersonalPortrays excellent team leadership skills.Effective in working with and learning from personnel in various roles and from diverse backgrounds; including engineers, legal, procurement, technology, process, and corporate executives. Basic Qualifications:
BS in chemical, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering.At least 20 recent years experience in project management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Has minimum of 10 years of Project Management Experience in Chemical Process Industries Work.Has had experience in running a $250M project or larger.Has successfully completed international projects.Strong working knowledge of chemical plant operations and processes. Requires constant interfacing with plant personnel.Must be willing to travel internationally up to 90%    
Additional Qualifications Desired:
Experience in Asia is strongly desired.Formal training and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired.Licensed professional engineer desired.
