Shift Chemist - at a polymer plant
Shift Chemist – Process Control Lab - in a polymer plant
The Shift Chemist will be supporting the manufacturing processes by conducting analyses of routine and non-routine process control samples to ensure the production of a consistent quality product.
Job Functions:
1.) Conduct analyses of routine and non-routine process control samples, per procedure, and to interpret analysis results to assess their validity, in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
2.) Conducting basic and advanced operation, maintenance and calibration of analytical methods and instrumentation.
3.) Make use of available resources in developing advanced understanding of plant processes to aid in troubleshooting process problems.
4.) Properly maintain the laboratory with regard to housekeeping and sample disposal.
5.) Maintain proper and adequate shift notes to provide a reliable history of events.
6.) Know and follow all Safety rules of the laboratory and plant.
This position will be using the following equipment/instruments: GC, Infrared Spectroscopy, Karl Fischer Titration (manual and automatic titrators) and UV/VIS Spectroscopy.
This position will be working a 12 hour rotating shift schedule (the DuPont Shift Schedule).
Requirements:
1.) B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry.
2.) 0-5 years experience.
3.) Must be physically capable of working within a process control laboratory environment.
4.) Must have ability to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
5.) Must be highly motivated to learn laboratory and plant processes.
6.) Must have computer proficiency.
7.) Required to work a standard DuPont Shift Schedule (12 hour rotating shifts).
