Bayer MaterialScience – Where VisionWorks.ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of this role, as Reliability Engineer, is to improve the equipment reliability, especially for rotating equipment, in the PUR Isocyantes Area in out Baytown, TX plant. The incumbent will:- Work with Plant Engineers, Specialist, Supervisors, Area Maintenance Technicians, and Rotating Equipment Expert to implement systems and programs to decrease production losses and lower cost by improving equipment performance using vibration analysis, condition monitoring, by tracking performance of bad actors and implement changes to solve problems;- Provide technical direction in resolving mechanical problems;- Assist in developing repair & PMs methods;- Assist in establishing spare parts requirements;- Serve on capital projects as a consulting resource; - Be responsible for establishing and evaluating equipment condition monitoring programs and analyzing the resulting data;- Be esponsible for providing input into specification, selection and repair tech for mechanical equipment;- Be responsible for compliance with plant safety requirements and operational excellence standards;- Be responsible for controlling and updating technical documentation;- Be responsible for tracking maintenance costs related to equipment;- Have knowledge in the existing technology of equipment used in the area and evaluates the application of emerging technology to improve mechanical reliability;- Serve as an upgrade for the Plant Engineers.- Principle problem solving challenges include improvements in the areas of unit reliability, cost reduction,and failure analysis;- The incumbent is expected to utilize his/her engineering know-how and mechanical ability to identify problems and develop alternatives and solutions for broadly defined problems and objectives. - Problems requiring a search for solutions or new alternatives are encountered frequently.QualificationsThe selected candidate will possess: - The minimum requirement for this position is a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering witn 0-2 years experience;- The position requires a basic understanding and application of practical engineering concepts;- Good written and oral communication skills are required; - The incumbent needs to be able to deal harmoniously with people of diverse backgrounds, disciplines and positions;- The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude Individual should be capable of handling multiple projects up to $100,000 each;- The incumbent must be able to provide advice to plant engineers, supervisors, and specialist for technical solutions.
