PCT Advanced Process Control Engineer

ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of this role, as PCT Advanced Process Control Engineer, is to identify, develop, and lead process control and optimization initiatives for the various production units at the Baytown site and the application, transfer and development of global process control and optimization strategies. In addition, the incumbent will be the primary interface between chemical engineering and process control technology and will support and/or lead process optimization projects, control improvements and sustainability thereof.The incumbent will:- Identify, develop and implement process control opportunities within the plant processes to enhance reliability, profitability, capacity and safe operations;- Identify, develop and implement process optimization opportunities within the plant processes to enhance reliability, profitability, capacity and safe operations;- Support strategic and capital projects involving process control and process optimization; - Participate in the global knowledge transfer to and from the Baytown site with respect to Advanced Process Controls;- Take a lead role in coordinating process control improvements, advanced process control maintenance and process monitoring tools;- Work closely together with production, process experts, reliability engineers and PCT Lead engineers to optimize process control, implement automation strategies and investigate process control related issues;- Lead Operator Training Simulator (OTS) implementation projects and support maintenance for training of PCT as well as production personnel;- Mentor junior engineers and engineering students with respect to Advanced Process Controls, coordinate and lead PCT-APC training and experience exchange;- Work to achieve department goals such as Alpha savings, Bayer Materials Science knowledge increase for Advanced Process Controls, etc.QualificationsThe selected candidate will possess:- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with several years of experience in the field of chemical engineering / process industries. Preference will be given to those with experience or specialization in process control;- Five or more years of related experience in Process Engineering and/or Process Control working in the chemical or process or control industry;- Broad knowledge of industrial automation and advanced process control technology;- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;- Ability to work well in a team environment; - Ability to work and act autonomously and assertively;- Self-directed and non-authoritative leadership skills;- Good written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills;- Decisive, approachable, results focused capabilities;- Customer focus;- Excellent computer skills;- Good business knowledge;- Project management experience;- Ability to manage large work load and be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.Preferred Qualifications- Systems experience;- Experience with advanced process control and process control applications (Matlab/Simulink, etc.) and chemical engineering simulation tools (Aspen Plus, Aspen Dynamics, etc.); - Experience working with Operator Training Simulators;- Knowledge of Bayer MaterialScience main production processes;- Programming experience; - Statistics experience (multivariate analysis);- Knowledge of DeltaV / Provox environment;- Experience with PI historian tools.Bayer Benefits We offer a wide variety of competitive compensation and benefit programs.
