Microbiology Lab Supervisor-Northwest Houston
Kelly Scientific Resources is Recruiting a Direct Hire Microbiology Supervisor for an environmental lab in Northwest Houston. Pay is $40-$45K.Primary Responsibilities Provides a 1st ' level check of all data generated by the analysts and technicians within the group, ensuring analysts and technicians have calculated their results correctly and identifying any obvious errors and omissions. Fill in as an analyst as needed. Rerun tests or evaluate test further if results from analyst do not meet expectations. Ensure analysts and technicians in group meet SOP compliance, including holding times. Assist analysts that may be experiencing difficulties with their test(s), and who may have questions. Perform basic troubleshooting on instrumentation and report problems to lab director if further service is needed. Ensure all analysts and technicians have adequate supplies to perform their tests.Scope ' Supervises lab analyst(s) assigned to the microbiology on both the water and wastewater sides.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities ' Ability to follow verbal and written directions, and communicate with all personnel. Ability to add, subcontract, multiply and perform intermediate to advance-level calculations and understand the metric system. Knowledgeable in college-level chemistry. Ability to read, write and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assigned job. Ability to work on Saturday and Sunday, holidays and overtime hours when necessary.Work Experience & Education ' College degree in microbiology preferred, or biology or equivalent. Wastewater, Drinking Water, and Surface Water microbiology experience preferred especially in working with identifying micro organisms in the these types of matrices. Supervisory experience of lab personnel. A minimum of two weeks training in a federal agency or academic institution in microbiological analysis of drinking water or 80 hours on on-the-job-training in water microbiology at a certified lab or other training acceptable to the state or EPA. Preferred but not mandatory if have a TCEQ Class D Water Operation license. Learn more about company
