The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Licensing Process Engineer with Dow's Technology Licensing (DTL) Business.The DTL Business group provides expertise and leadership in the transfer of intellectual assets and technology into or out of The Dow Chemical Company.  This capability is important in all kinds of transactions including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, alliances, joint ventures, in-licensing, out-licensing and donations.  DTL provides this expertise and leadership to all of the global businesses as a shared functional capability and also manages the corporate intellectual assets of Dow as a business, with annual profit goals and growth targets.   The Licensing Process Engineer role acts as a technical resource within the licensing work processes for the successful implementation of large licensing projects, process technology improvements, and technical solutions for the licensing business. A Licensing Process Engineer is proficient in the application of Chemical Engineering skills and the Process Engineering Work Process Discipline, and acts independently to apply this knowledge in practical applications.   Typical assignments include the process design of a specific part of one of our licensed technologies: Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol (EOEG) or LP Oxo process for alcohol. The role also creates value through client sales and support work, Six Sigma optimization processes, or process technology improvements. The opportunity to interact with clients from around the world at Dow's South Charleston Tech Park or at the client's site exits.  Key responsibilities include: Complete process engineering activities for well defined portions of world scale grass roots projects and lead smaller retrofit or capacity expansion projects. Apply Chemical Engineering fundamentals to solve technical problems. Use the Licensing Work Process Discipline and Most Effective Technology (MET) to implement licensing projects. Effectively leverage licensing resources and other experts in the delivery of EOEG or other licensed technology to new clients. Lead the development of retrofit projects. Provide clear and concise written responses to client questions during detailed design, construction and start-up activities. May participate in client start-up teams. Provide sales support data for licensing efforts using existing tools. Participate in improvement activities such as Six Sigma Projects. Up to 10% travel; some travel is international and the opportunity for 4 to 6 month start-up assignments at international locations exists. BS or MS in Chemical Engineering is required for this position.Successful candidate will also be required to have 5 or more years of related experience.  Six Sigma experience/certification is preferred.   At Dow, we are harnessing the power of science and technology to improve the lives of people around the world.
