Huntsman has an immediate opening for a dynamic individual as a Global PSM Coordinator  - Process Hazard Analysis/Modeling in our Global Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Division.  This position requires a self-starting, Chemical or Mechanical Engineer knowledgeable of Process Safety concepts, and experienced in hazard scenario modeling.  The selected U.S. candidate will be based at the EHS Center of Excellence site in The Woodlands, Texas.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Leadership:Requires leadership skills and will require leading/directing groups of Process Safety subject matter experts.  Interact with all levels of both EHS and manufacturing organizations to influence change and promote Process Safety efforts

 

Process Safety Program:Assist with the development, update and maintenance of corporate Process Safety programs, procedures and management systems related to Process Hazard Analysis/Facility Siting and hazard modeling (global processes must be integral to Process Safety).  These programs should include best practices in accordance with current industry practices and trendsRequires extensive interface with EHS/Engineering professionals throughout the Huntsman businesses on a global basis, as well as contractors/consultants

 

Modeling:Assist facilities as needed in performing hazard scenario modeling.Assess/identify modeling tools which Huntsman may need to acquire in order to provide hazard modeling for the various facilities.

 

Implementation:Assist facilities as needed with the implementation of Process Safety programs and management systems.  This will involve development of implementation plans/schedules.Develop and implement communication plans with facilities.Schedule/conduct implementation, including installing Key Performance Indicators for reporting Process Safety performance

 

Training:Develop and conduct Process Safety training courses.  Clear oral/written communication/presentation skills will be a critical success element. Skills in developing training objectives, building training materials (including assessment/feedback criteria) will be critical.Identify and document training needs for Process Safety new/revised programs, including target audience, desired competency level (defined knowledge/skills needed), training format (email/memo, computer-based training, instructor), trainer identification, trainer competency needs, post-training competency assessments, and training record maintenance requirements

 

 

 

Process Safety Performance Monitoring:Responsible for monitoring of Process Safety performance indicators (key performance indicators).  Trending skills will be required in order to assess the performance, identify areas requiring improvement, and develop improvement plans

 

Process Safety Audit Protocols:Assist with the development and maintenance of Process Safety audit protocols (globally).

 

EHS Auditing:Serve on EHS audit teams, both domestically and internationally, in order to (1) maintain familiarity with Huntsman operations, (2) ensure awareness of potential legislative/regulatory developments with business impacts, and (3) ensure compliance EHS Protection Policy and applicable regulations.  Additionally, when required, serve as audit Team Leader, responsible for (1) distributing pre-audit information to facilities and the team, (2) assigning auditor responsibilities, (3) conducting opening and closing presentations, (4) managing the team to ensure an effective review, and (5) preparing the final audit report.  Review and approve audit action plans and verify closure of action plans as needed

 

Incident Investigation:Lead and/or participate in Profess Safety related incident investigations.  This will involve 1) gathering critical evidence/data, 2) interviewing witness and other knowledgeable personnel, leading an investigation team through investigation techniques, 3) determining root causes which lead to the incident, 4) identifying corrective measures needed to prevent recurrences, 5) developing formal reports and presentations for senior management, 6) communicating lessons learned through the organization, and 7) assisting with implementation of corrective measures as requested

 

Industry Knowledge:Participate in Industrial Committees in Huntsman’s behalf in order to gain knowledge of industrial practices and trends.  Participate in bench-marking exercises as needed.  This knowledge should be incorporated into Huntsman’s ongoing Process Safety improvement process

 

Budgets:Assist in the development of department expense budgets; prepare budget presentations with cost/benefit analyses and justifications for special activities.  Accountability for controlling costs within budget will also be a key responsibility for this position

 

Educational Requirements & Work Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent required.  Preferably with a chemical or mechanical engineering background with appropriate related experience.7 years minimum experience in Process Safety or related field

 

Special QualificationsExceptional computer skills (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint)Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsMust be willing to travel (approximately 30–40%), both domestic and international
