Albemarle Corporation is seeking an Environmental Engineer (AIR) for its Pasadena, Texas locations.

 

Job Duties: Assist in implementing and maintaining company standards regarding environmental policies.Provide in-depth knowledge of Federal and Texas Air Rules with high proficiency in performance of air-permitting activities required for new facilities as well as permit modifications and alterations for permitted existing facilities.Stay abreast of new developments concerning environmental rules and regulations and evaluating impact of said rules and regulations.Schedule and coordinate regulatory activities such as external audits, emission (RATA) testing, routinely required inspections, etc.Manage, organize, control and monitor chemical waste streams leaving Albemarle sites, ensuring adherence to all local and national regulations regarding safe disposal of waste.  Collect and log all required data.Coordinate (schedule) safe transport and movement of the above mentioned, using approved waste disposal companies. Assist an environmental compliance staff of four other professionals in conformance to all applicable rules and regulations for two Houston area chemical manufacturing sites.

 Responsibilities: Monitor site activities to maintain a safe, healthy and accident free working environment for all environmental related activities undertaken on site. Make regulatory applicability decisions for two major Albemarle sites as new rules and regulations are promulgated.Interact with TCEQ and EPA personnel to gather information, and negotiate permit conditions and limits.  Communicate environmental requirements to operations, maintenance and administrative personnel at both sites.Complete annual emissions inventories as well as other required regulatory reports relative to air emissions.Profile chemical waste streams to ensure cost effective disposal routes.Operate and maintain logging procedures for solid, gas and liquid waste streams leaving the site.



Essential Qualifications:

· B.S. in Chemical Engineering or M.S. in Chemistry

· Minimum 10 years engineering experience in chemicals manufacturing

· 2-5 years in air permitting and emission calculations.  Broad experience with other environmental laws such as RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, CERLCA, FIFRA, CWC is beneficial.

 

Desirable Experience:  Air emission modeling and Knowledge of Texas Air Rules including rules relating to high reactive volatile organic chemicals (HRVOCs).
