DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Propose, develop and manage programs that advance the recycling of spent catalyst process technology.  Emphasis is on process development as affected by cost, quality and environmental requirements as well as the demands of the product improvement portfolio. 

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Propose new programs to address future technological needs of the corporation

· In cooperation with operations personnel at the U.S., and Canadian plants, identify and propose projects that address the current  technological needs of the facilities

· Supervise activities of engineers and technicians engaged in project work at the Research and Pilot facilities in the U.S.

·  Propose, design and conduct research that leads to new product or process development.

· Develop strategies related to automation and instrumentation of new or existing processes

· Supervise start-up of new processes or process modifications.

· Provide support to Marketing and Sales in customer related problems and to operations on plant or process problems on a global basis

· Maintain records of project work and write timely reports upon completion

· Prepare quarterly progress reports

· Assist Vice President of Technology on developing and implementing Corporate Technology strategy

· Serve on company business/technical teams

· Travel as required

 

WORK RELATIONSHIPS



External:

Equipment vendors, customers, university staff

Manage project work with Parent company research group.

Internal:

Supervise personnel/staff in the U.S.  Other informal relationships with Technology, Marketing/Sales and Operations personnel

 

QUALIFICATIONS

· BSME, BSEE,or Civil Engineer, Post Graduate degree and experience in chemical production desirable

· Black Belt in Six Sigma

· Project Management Experience required

· 5 years experience in Industrial Processing (Preferrably in a Chemical Environment)

· Knowledge of environmental regulation and trends regarding process technology on a global basis
