The Category Manager, Oilfield Chemicals will be accountable for all commercial matters related to Oilfield Chemicals sales and marketing and the gross profit at standard for product line sales into the market segment.  The principal function is to lead growth into the market of the product lines in the oil field chemicals segment related to emerging markets for peroxygens as viscosity breakers, environmentally “green” biocides, and related oxidation technology. The Oilfield Chemicals Category Manager will have accountability for global sales and marketing in this served market currently totaling approximately $6M gross revenue (‘08F) and $4M Gross Profit.  Identified growth opportunities in this segment have the potential to double the profitability of the category over the plan period. Other areas of accountability will be:  1)  All commercial matters relating to sales, marketing and customer service in this market space 2)  Development of product strategies consistent with the overall PXD strategy for growth of Oilfield Chemicals including tactical planning for product development and launch, IP development, product positioning, and branding. 3)  Development of product-market strategies for deeper penetration of the adjacency and driving  growth. 4)  Participation in the Division strategic planning process specifically related to internal and external analyses for Oilfield Chemicals and long range targets for this segment to be integrated into the Corporate LRP process. 5)  Pricing strategies and implementation plans for the product line. 6)  Advertising, promotion and all other direct marketing activities to cost effectively increase product sales and develop brand equity including technical literature and other collateral in support of global sales and marketing initiatives. 7)  Forecasting and modeling  in relation to the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning process (SIOP) for Oilfield Chemicals. 8)  Budgeting, forecasting and capital planning related to Oilfield Chemicals for integration into Division budgets and planning processes. 9)  Management of Distribution companies and Sales agents and representatives. 10) Identifying  acquisition candidates for technology and/or manufacturing as well as potential strategic partners 11) Supply chain and sku rationalization strategies. 12) Coordination of market focused technology with Biopolymer applications in the market space.

Job Requirements:
Experience:  · 5+ years minimum in sales and marketing of technical products, chemicals preferred. · Prior experience in oilfield operations and chemistry particularly related to enhanced oil and gas recovery utilizing fracturing technology.  Industry contacts a strong plus. · The candidate should be a strong independent self starter with a passion for learning and development.  Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills including the ability to manage by influence required. High energy, ambition, and desire for growth essential.
