Job Title:  Cashier-Checker

Reports to: Manager and Assistants

 

 SUMMARY

Operates cash register to itemize and total customer’s purchases in a fueling station/ convenience retail store by performing the following duties.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 I.  Customer Service

a. Responsible for quality and a “We’re glad you’re here attitude”

b. Four rules of customer service:

  1.)  We greet customers at the door.

  2.)  We greet the customer again at the counter.

  3.)  We ask the customer if there’s anything we can get for them.

  4.)  We encourage the customer to come back and see us again.

 

II.  Responsible for safe guarding cash

  a. Collects cash, check, or charge payment from customer and makes

  change from cash transactions.

  b. Counts money in cash drawer at the beginning and end of every work shift.

  c. Records daily transaction amounts from cash register to balance cash

  drawer.

  d. Responsible for end shift reports and cash over and shortages.

 III.  Responsible for safe guard of store and inventory control

a. Reviews price sheets to note price changes and sale items.

b. Records prices and departments, subtotals, taxable items, and total

  purchases in cash register.

c. Stock shelves and marks prices on items. (Able to lift up to forty lbs.)

d. Responsible for end of shift of cigarette shortages.

 IV.  Responsible for store appearance

a. Responsible for some cleaning and maintenance.

b. Responsible for emptying trash, washing pumps, and cleaning bathrooms

etc.

c. Responsible for Road Ranger’s daily maintenance sheet.

d. Responsible for stocking cooler.

 V. Responsible for paper work

a. End of shift paper work

b. End of shift cigarette counts

c. End of shift video and cassette counts

d. All other paperwork pertaining to job

 

VI.  Agree to and support Road Ranger Mission statement and policy.

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Report to and work with Store Manager and assistants.

Some High School

 LANGUAGE SKILLS

Good communication skills, people oriented focus.

Must be able to speak English well.

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Good basic skills, able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS
